Trump said the Saudis must normalize relations with Israel for a nuclear deal.

The landmark nuclear deal announced between the US and Saudi Arabia is based on Riyadh joining the Abraham Accords, in other words recognizing the state of Israel, US President Donald Trump said.

“A civilian nuclear deal (no material enrichment!) … dealing only with military use … would be approved, but entirely subject to Saudi Arabia joining the highly respected and successful Abraham Accords.”

Trump’s comments followed criticism from experts that the deal could pose a risk of future nuclear proliferation in the volatile region.

The nuclear issue has been at the center of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran for months.

In the year In 2020, Trump brokered the Abraham Accords, which formalized historic ties between Israel and two Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.

Sudan and Morocco have normalized their relations with Israel.
