US President Donald Trump says he is reviewing Iran’s 14-point plan to end its war on the country, and warned that Washington could launch another attack if Tehran “gets it wrong”.

Speaking to reporters in Florida before boarding Air Force One on Saturday, Mr Trump confirmed that he had been briefed on “the idea of ​​a deal”.

Despite the opening of diplomatic missions, the US President spoke clearly about the possibility of a renewed conflict, which has been suspended since the announcement of a ceasefire between the parties on April 7.

“If they do something wrong, it’s going to happen,” Trump said when asked if the strikes would resume.

Trump added that the US was “doing very well” and said Iran wanted stability because the country had been “destroyed” by months of conflict and a naval blockade.

In a post on Truth Social later, Trump said it was difficult to imagine Iran’s proposal would be accepted because Tehran “has yet to pay the full price for what it has done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”

Tehran’s 14-point plan is said to call for the removal of the US military fence, a withdrawal of the war, and the release of all nuclear weapons.

It also wants a 30-day window to finalize their peace talks, a time frame contrary to Washington’s demands for reform.

The diplomatic push comes amid a three-week standoff that has stalled the US-Israeli war in Iran, which began in late February.

Despite the end of the war, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that it would remain “on standby” to return to the war, due to the US’s non-commitment to previous agreements.

Tensions have also been exacerbated by Trump’s recent comments about the US military shutdown as “very profitable business”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran quoted the statement, calling it a “bad admission of piracy”.

The tension is further exacerbated by technical obstacles to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, including the presence of Iranian mines, as well as major conflicts with NATO allies following Trump’s decision to withdraw 5,000 US troops from Germany.
