Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week: Docu, Van de Ven, Geocares, Mainu, Gallagher

Kobi Mainu (Manchester United): Looking at the back of the season compared to the beginning of the season, it is like night and day. It just goes to show what a little love and care can do to someone. I’m still not convinced that Mainu is the guy – I think we need to see a lot more work – but I will A win against Liverpool Best performance I’ve seen him in a United shirt. Dominating the game, making some big tackles, getting forward, breaking up the game and bringing goals. The most complete performance from him, I thought he was great.

Dominic Soboszlai (Liverpool): Goals and assists for him at Old Trafford. Liverpool have been awful all season but he has his head held high and comes out as one of the best around. His stock has soared in a bad season for them. He is coming up with big performances.

Connor Gallagher (Tottenham): I was going to put James Garner in there, but Gallagher got it for me because the game was more important to the Spurs. big goal He had a tough time there but with Roberto Di Zerbi and the philosophy of pressing and running hard, I think that makes Gallagher an incredible purchase for Spurs. He will be good not only this year but also for years to come.

Mathis Tell (Tottenham): I thought Teal was arguably the highest rated player Spurs bought, but since the start of the year he’s had a light switch in his head that says ‘hang on, I was at Bayern Munich and now I can play in the Championship’. He stepped up. He’s played big minutes moving the ball forward, as an outlet and now adding assists. Richarlison’s cross was a striker’s dream.

Jeremy Docu (Manchester City): He wasn’t in it until the last kick of the game. Two incredible strikes and one on the leg in the same match. He’s the most frustrating player to watch because you think ‘you’re faster than everyone else – kick and run’, but he loves his technique. When he put two of his goals into the corner, he kept Manchester City’s season alive because it was dead. I still think Arsenal will win it, but he made it interesting.
