Talks over the Al-Ahly player’s future after the World Cup
Egypt’s Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet’s move to Riyadh is now expected to be just under $1.5 million in a summer deal that could bring the Pharaohs winger back to the Saudi league after a long spell in Europe.
Negotiations with the management of the “Riyadh” club have been stopped, according to the newspaper.SportsEgyptian club Al-Ahly and player Mahmoud Hassan with Trezeguet in a financial barrier of $1.5 million to complete the transfer of the international winger in the current summer transfer window.
The administration of Riyadh has held three-way talks with Al-Ahly and the player, which have not yet led to a final agreement due to a clear financial discrepancy between the submitted offer and the demands of both parties, as the capital club offered one million dollars to buy the remaining period of the player’s contract with Al-Ahly, an amount that is half a million dollars less than the Egyptian club’s demand.
In terms of negotiations with the player, Riyadh have made an offer of up to two million dollars a year, while Trezeguet wants $3 million to complete the contract, so he puts the difference of one million dollars on the player’s salary, in addition to half a million with Al-Ahly, leaving the whole deal with $1.5 million to settle.
The 31-year-old winger has a long-term contract with Al-Ahly, which runs until the summer of 2030, after he returned to his parent club in the summer of 2025 following a spell abroad, most notably at English club Aston Villa. Trezeguet began his career in the youth ranks at Red Fort and progressed through the first team before embarking on the professional journey.
The player spent a remarkable season in the “Al-Ahly” team, where he participated in 32 matches and scored 18 goals in addition to one assist. Meanwhile, Trezeguet is with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup and came on as a substitute against New Zealand in the last match and scored the third goal in the Pharaohs’ historic 3-1 win.
