Tonda Eckert: Southampton boss accused of FA spygate

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert has been accused by the Football Association of playing a role in the Spygate scandal.

Saints were kicked out of the Championship play-offs in May after admitting spying on three clubs during the campaign.

An independent disciplinary commission ruled at the time that the spying was authorized by Eckert and was a “conceived and determined top-down plan”.

Since then the club has been the subject of an investigation by the FA, assessing the culpability of those who took part in the spying and those who knew it was happening.
