The first full length trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu‘highly anticipated comedy Digger is out, and it’s the audience’ first look at Tom Cruise‘It’s the most unrecognizable part since he donned fat clothes and prosthetics in 2008’s Tropic Thunder.

The film will be released worldwide in early October and stars Cruise as Digger Rockwell, “the strongest man in the world” on a mission to save the world from a natural disaster.

Before the release of the trailer, Cruise recently spoke to the media and fans at an event held by Warner Bros. in Los Angeles, saying that it was unlike any work he had done before.

“I have never had anything that could challenge me like this and Alejandro when we entered,” said the actor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “When you see the film, it’s original.”

The trailer sees Cruise with a gray combover, a pot belly and a strong southern accent as the part of an oil baron whose company may have caused a natural disaster that could lead to nuclear war. According to the film, he “begins the difficult task of proving that he is the savior of mankind before the disaster he has unleashed destroys everything”.

The support team includes John Goodman, Rice AhmedMichael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde.

At the Los Angeles event, Cruise said his admiration for Iñárritu began in the 2000s classic drama Amores Perros. “What a great movie. It was amazing,” the actor was impressed Miscellaneous. “When I saw the film, I don’t know how you all felt, but I said, ‘What is this man!

Digger was filmed in VistaVision, a popular analog technique introduced in the 1950s that has recently returned to popularity, with films such as The Brutalist and One Battle After Another shot with the technique.
