The Saudi Professional League revealed the mechanism it relied on to prepare the 2026-2027 Roshen League fixture schedule ahead of the schedule’s official release, in a move aimed at clarifying the basis for the allocation of fixtures, especially in light of the busiest season in the competition’s history.
The Roshen League will start on August 13, 2026 and continue until May 29, 2027, but the association faced a unique challenge considering the participation of 8 Saudi clubs in 4 foreign tournaments, in addition to international breaks and the participation of the Saudi national team, in addition to the Kingdom’s 2027 championship matches, which significantly reduced the number of 2027 championship matches.
The association explained that international stops and team participation take about 80 calendar days, while the Asian Cup needs more than 44 days, excluding stadium delivery times, in addition to 59 days for domestic and continental tournaments and 43 days for rest between matches, so it has only 102 days to allocate for Round 4.

The association has adopted a number of criteria to ensure fairness between all clubs, the most prominent of which is that no team must play more than two consecutive matches at home or away from its stadium, and that each club must play a home and another away match in the first and last two rounds, while ensuring that the rest period between two consecutive matches is not less than two days in the competition.
The association also wanted to involve the clubs in the scheduling process as it held a workshop with all club representatives to explain the scheduling mechanism and calendar and gave them the opportunity to submit their queries and comments on the order of matches and their timings before the final schedule was approved.
In order to achieve maximum balance, Roshen League clubs have been classified into 4 tiers based on the results of the last three seasons, with more weight given to the previous season, with the aim of avoiding any team playing with first tier clubs in two consecutive rounds, which contributes to a fairer distribution of key fixtures throughout the season.
The association confirmed that the availability and availability of stadiums, in addition to foreign participation and international commitments, are among the most important factors influencing the schedule, noting that all these elements have been examined in an integrated manner to ensure competition regularity and competitive fairness, with the full schedule of the Roshen League to be announced at a later stage.
