Thousands of people have gathered in the British capital to protest Israel’s deadly war in Gaza, calling on the prime minister to take urgent action.

Labor leader Burnham is expected to become the next UK Prime Minister on Monday.
“Three years of unrelenting carnage – and the call for justice and accountability, in Britain and around the world, is growing stronger,” said Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, writing on X.
Burnham’s Labor Party has been widely criticized for its handling of the killings under Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Despite the overwhelming evidence of Israel’s war crimes, its government continued to supply the country with weapons.
Critics accuse Starmer and his cabinet of taking only symbolic measures against Israel, such as accepting right-wing ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
Burnham faces a number of challenges as prime minister, including the financial crisis, mounting student debt, a lack of affordable housing and the exodus of party members due to Labor’s lackluster response to Gaza.
Zomlot led the protesters as they marched through London, chanting and carrying pro-Palestinian signs.
Former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn, who was kicked out of the party by Starmer, also attended. Corbyn has urged Burnham to end what he described as the UK’s crippling death toll.
“Thousands of us are in London today with a message to the new Prime Minister: we will not stop, we will not leave, and we will not stop campaigning for the liberation of Palestine. Withdraw Britain’s cooperation in genocide, now,” Corbyn said in a tweet on X.
