Thousands of people have marched in the Spanish capital, demanding the resignation of Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez after a series of corruption scandals within his party.
Demonstrators, many waving red and yellow Spanish flags and carrying signs saying “Enough!”, marched through the streets of Madrid on Saturday behind a large banner that read: “Corruption has a price. No more punishment. Resignation and elections now.”

The demonstration was called by a group of more than 150 organizations called Sociedad Civil Espanola and supported by the conservative Popular Party (PP) and the right-wing Vox.
Organizers put attendance at 120,000. A representative of the central government in the region said 40,000 people took part in the march, which ended in Plaza Moncloa near Sanchez’s home.
After the march, a small group of protesters tried to enter their residence but were pushed back by riot police during a peaceful rally, Spanish TV footage showed.
Three people were arrested and seven police officers were slightly injured, according to a government representative.
“There is no one left in Pedro Sanchez’s group who has not been accused of a serious crime. Spain is under the grip of corrupt criminals,” right-wing Vox leader Santiago Abascal told reporters before the trip.
Sanchez, who came to power in 2018 after using a no-confidence vote to topple the corruption-plagued PP government, has vowed to continue despite mounting corruption charges against his party.
His brother, David, is expected to be charged with trafficking.
His wife, Begona Gomez, is being investigated for corruption. Sánchez He briefly considered quitting his job in April 2024 after the case was opened.
Begona denies any wrongdoing, as does the Spanish prosecutor last month asked the investigating judge to close the case, which was brought by right-wing groups.
Sanchez has dropped these charges against his family for political reasons.
His former right-hand man, former transport minister Jose Luis Abalos, is awaiting a verdict in his corruption trial, which ended earlier this month.
On Tuesday, the court put former Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, a friend of Sanchez, is being investigated depending on the sale and other charges, which increase the pressure on the government. Zapatero denied any wrongdoing.
