This AI startup cleans your house for free to train future robots

The founders of AI Shift courses want to clean your house for free. Fish – because, even his website he says, there’s always a catch – and that’s that it records the cleaners when they clean, wash, dust, organize, and clean, and uses the video to train the robots.

Shift he announced unusual contribution on social media on Thursday, explaining that the cost of education made from refined materials is sufficient to provide funding. As its website says: “You get a spotless home. We get an educational experience. Everyone wins.”

The promotional video shows a cleaner in a white uniform and floppy hat (more on that later) washing windows, mopping and mopping floors, washing dishes, and wiping down counters. According to for Shift’s Co-CEO and co-founder Bercan Kilic, this “magic hat” is what gets the job done. It’s not high fashion, but it has a camera that takes pictures from the cleaning area.

The pictures from your house are what you pay for the cleaning service. On its website, Shift says “customer privacy is fully protected,” with sensitive information such as names, faces, or personal information from photos and ID cards blurred and anonymized before being used to train the AI. Shift says its cleaners are also peer-reviewed, despite stressing that they are not Shift employees.

“Every home cleaned today lays the foundation for a self-cleaning home tomorrow,” the company says in the video. In that case, dirty is better. A FAQ on the company’s website states that “the most difficult cleaning environment can be the most effective.” There are limits, however, and cleaners “can refuse any job they can’t do well.”

This service is available only in New York, but Kilic he says it will be available “soon” in San Francisco, London, Zurich, and Munich. The free cleaning is only available for a “limited time,” but the model is in line with the growing market for human service records that can be used to train AI systems and robots. Shift says it already pays thousands of people in 15 countries to log their activities through its app.

Cleaning can be just the beginning. Video Shift is said to eventually plan to move into other areas such as plumbing, cooking, and construction.
