This Advertiser Convinced The Internet’s Guy Fieri Doesn’t Swallow Food On TV

For millions of The Americans, Guy Fieri Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives it’s a comforting show.

It is more than 500 parts produced and aired for nearly two decades, they serve as a Food Network a regular that runs for nine hours, and Fieri himself – the black Mayor of Flavortown – is a well-known and influential figure in the country’s famous cuisine.

But what if Fieri’s excitement seems to be taking over all those samples burgers and tacos was it some kind of trick? It may be that any announcement of “This is money!” or “I eat that by accident!” isn’t it honest? Is it possible that all of Fieri’s beauty, from the flame-lined coat and cherry-red make-up to the swirling shades and frosty tops, hides a quiet but devastating truth?

That’s the contention of the video maker Twitch streamer is known as Doctor Spaghettiwho recently began to make it clear: Fieri never swallows the food he eats on the show. The conspiracy theory you have benefited amazing attraction pass through visitorsas well as executive chefs and TV producers who claim to have worked with Fieri have dismissed it as ridiculous.

“As much as I thought about Guy before this, I didn’t have much, to be honest,” Doctor Spaghetti, who declined to give his real name for fear of harassment from Fieri fans, tells WIRED. “I thought some of his catchphrases, ‘That’s a terrorist!’—were really disgusting, but other than that, I didn’t care either way.

For whatever reason, Fieri is often the subject of ridiculous internet rumors and unhinged conspiracy theories. One notable conceit was that Fieri and his late friend Steve Harwell, lead singer of Smash Mouth, were. actually the same person. (Harwell died in 2023.) Elsewhere, some Pizzagate believers tried to argue that Fieri had a baseless conspiracy because the owner was filmed part of his show in Washington, DC’s Comet Ping Pong pizzeria.

Two weeks ago, while Doctor Spaghetti was playing a video game, a viewer in his living room told him that Fieri doesn’t swallow food. Diners, Drive-Ins and Divesand the camera always cuts off before he finishes chewing. “My first thought was that he’s too dumb to be trusted, and too dumb to ignore,” he says. When he began to analyze the series with a view against the claims, however, he found that “the cut of the show was very questionable.”

In a series of videos that have collected almost a million views on Instagram, Doctor Spaghetti shows various kitchen scenes in which Fieri tastes the dishes but does not show how to swallow them. In the firsthe jokes that Fieri’s beard “is there to hide his neck so you don’t know.” About another moviehe minimized the footage which, upon closer inspection, shows Fieri raising sticks to his face with nothing. Doctor Spaghetti also analyzed the story of 17 years ago, thinking that “in the early days he must have swallowed it,” and. found a moment when Fieri took the spoon out of his mouth the food was still there. He wrote most of his research in a A half-hour YouTube video.

“Totally expensive,” commented one commenter on Doctor Spaghetti’s Instagram account. “Eating, Driving, and LIES?!!” someone answered.

Like conspiracy theorists he did not hesitate to say, some of these sleep-fork expected in the production of DDD. Fieri visits many restaurants in a short period of time and cannot eat all the food. Sometimes a second or third (or tenth) take is necessary, and it’s not helpful for everyone’s new bite. Some editing choices are no doubt due to the continuity and flow: does the audience really want or need a few seconds of awkward silence as Fieri finishes chewing the roast and swallows it?
