This accessory can connect the Steam Controller to your phone – or anything else

When Basegrip is included Mechanism phone installationthe company suggests that you can use the Steam Controller to remotely control your PC using the Steam Link app. But, Mechanism says “controller doesn’t work on iOS or Android yet” – based on my testing with iOS, there are other issuesso the Steam Controller with Mechanism Basegrip and mount might not be your go-to place for mobile gaming right now. (For what it’s worth, playing games with the Steam Controller using the Steam Link iOS app worked for me.)

Mechanism is also opening the waiting list for the Steam Controller port which represents the controller in the corner. The Steam Controller comes with a charging puck that attaches tightly, but most of the time the puck – and the connected Steam controller – lie flat on the floor. Mechanism says its port, on the other hand, is “perfectly weighted for your controller to enjoy” and “designed to proudly display, charge, and connect your Steam Controller.” The company is opening a waiting list for the port, and it is said to start in June 2026.
