Houston, TX, USA – September 10, 2018: The Marriott Marquis is a Four Diamond hotel located in downtown Houston and has a Texas-style pool, five restaurants and beautiful views from all sides.Joe Hendrickson
1777 Walker St., (713) 654-1777
Adjacent to the George R. Brown Convention Center downtown, the Marriott Marquis has over 100,000 square feet of space, including the largest ballroom in Houston. Often referred to as the city’s most luxurious hotel, it caters to both business and leisure travelers, with the world’s largest Texas-sized lazy river on its rooftop. If you don’t think that’s something to brag about then you haven’t spent enough time in government.
1100 Texas Ave., (713) 221-0011
A very affordable hotel in the former headquarters of Shell Oil, this renovated downtown hotel offers easy access to the convention center and Daikin Park, where the Astros call home. You can’t walk around the rooftop pool like you can at the Marquis, but a quick, cool dip at the end of the day won’t disappoint, and free cookies at bedtime.

This new mid-century inspired gem can be found in the Montrose neighborhood, not far from the Menil Collection, arguably the best and most amazing museum in town. The mall has just 71 rooms and is designed to blend in with the surrounding area, which is mostly residential and low-key compared to the worst of the town. Despite its small size, it still has a small event space, a private pool, and a guest lounge.

The Houstonian is located on 27 acres in the Houston district of West Oaks, just outside the Loop. Despite its central location, this hotel offers a secluded location that you won’t find anywhere else in town. Perhaps that is why George HW Bush used this hotel as his official residence in the 1980s and stayed here for many years. The 125,000-square-foot park is the largest in the state.
2222 W Loop S, (713) 627-7600
Another hotel in the Galleria area, this is a great option for business travelers who need focused amenities like a 24-hour business and fitness center, shuttle services, and meeting and event space (all 50,000 square feet). With 485 guest rooms on its 23 floors, there’s probably room for your whole group to find a weekend getaway.
Houston has hundreds of co-working spaces, so chances are you’ll find one close to where you live. As with most things in this city, travel time is of the essence. These options may be some of the best in town, but no sane Houstonian would recommend spending an hour on the road to get to one of them when a solid alternative is nearby.

401 Franklin St., (713) 999-2550
Named after the post office that used to occupy the Museum District (it was a railroad depot before the railroad), POST was renovated in 2019 as a cultural space that includes a food hall, an art gallery, a concert hall, and a rooftop garden. It also has plenty of work space from single desks to full offices, with day passes starting at $25.
4201 Main St.
Rice University helped establish the Ion District, which occupies 16 acres in Midtown and is a technology and electronics manufacturing center, and now includes the largest climate and sustainable energy incubator in the country. Membership (starting at $60/day) gives you access to on-site networking events including snacks and coffee.
1430 Yale St., (832) 203-5115
This shopping center is perfect for those doing business in the Heights, with amenities including an on-site notary, meeting room rentals, and office space options for those looking for a downtown address. Multiple subscription options are available from $25 for a day to $359 for a monthly membership (which includes free conference room access).
Yes, there are about 200 Starbucks in the greater Houston area, and if you are welcome to visit them or any other group to choose from, this place offers a unique (and independent) experience that, if nothing else, will help you impress your business friends and your high palate.

Blendin focuses on sourcing coffee from unique locations with a “tree to cup” philosophy, which means your cup (or bag of beans) may come from a single farm in Panama, Ethiopia, Burundi, or elsewhere. Put yourself in the hands of a barista at one of these two locations to help you find the perfect base for your latte.
1018 Westheimer Rd.
At the area’s favorite all-you-can-eat coffee shop, you’ll do well to pair your Vietnamese tea or Golden Monkey tea with a hearty brunch, like salmon roe or smoked meat biscuits. Skip lunch to make room.
