And on Friday, the Defense Department (which has called itself the War Department without authorization from the US Congress) began releasing the files.
So what’s in there? You can see for yourself here. The short answer is “not much.”

The long answer is that there are pages and pages of FBI archives, unsolved cases, eyewitness interviews, and vivid, black-and-white photographs that show dots but nothing remotely conclusive of aliens, spaceships, or any alien technology.
In short, there is no credible evidence here of aliens, aliens, alien abductions, or anything else like that.
Weird, we know.
Release does not prevent aliens from coming to earth, of course. It’s a very large galaxy, and in recent years, scientists have confirmed that billions of stars in our Milky Way galaxy alone have powerful planets. And there are billions of galaxies. So there are many worlds out there where life could have evolved and had the desire and ability to fly into space. Maybe we are alone. Maybe we live in a “dark forest” environment. We just don’t know.
But we know that to say that aliens have come to earth is a big statement. Here, we must remember the words of Carl Sagan: “Strange claims require extraordinary evidence.”
The release of the files by the US military on Friday is just the beginning. There is more to come. But what we have seen today is very little, it is very limited compared to the amazing evidence.
