The US embassy has warned UK citizens that threats have increased Crime Stories

The US Embassy in the UK has advised citizens to avoid schools, churches, tourist attractions and to adjust their travel arrangements.

The United States ambassador in London has issued a warning to tell its citizens in the United Kingdom to be careful after the British government raised the threat to the country to “severe”.

The governor advised citizens on Friday to be “vigilant in public places” and to stay away from schools, churches, tourist centers and transportation hubs.

It also said that US citizens should adjust their “routes and timings” to reduce predictability and avoid bad reputations.

The UK’s intelligence agency, MI5, said on Friday that the Joint Terrorism Analysis Center had raised the threat level from “high” to “severe”.

This is the second highest level, indicating that an attack within the next six months is “very likely”, MI5 said in a statement.

“The UK has been experiencing a gradual increase in terrorist threats for some time,” the agency said, adding that the updated threats followed the killing of two Jewish men in London’s Golders Green on Wednesday, “although not as a result of the attack”.

The growing threat has been “driven by the rise of Islamist and Extreme Right-Wing terrorism from individuals and minority groups in the UK,” MI5 said, focusing on threats particularly to “Jewish and Israeli individuals and organisations, during the conflict in the Middle East”.

This is the second security alert from the US embassy in the UK in the past few weeks.

Recently, it posted a statement about recent attacks and threats “against Jewish and American organizations”, advising citizens to be vigilant.

Last week, the Finchley Reform Synagogue in north London was targeted. Other incidents have occurred, including attacks Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow.
