What can they do that they are not doing?
I mean, look, I think it’s a stupid idea to start and tear down more Starlink terminals in Iran. Well, that would be interesting. I would support a partnership, you know, a US government partnership to do this, because it would cost less than a couple of missiles. And we own the airspace for now. You know, they don’t have air protection. I think that every cell phone, every smartphone that is made after 2020 or 2021 can connect to satellite internet.
It requires switching switches. To do that, we need some action from Congress or the administration, and maybe some assurances to cellular providers that if you provide access to Iran, we will not punish you. We do not force this.
Do you have any educated guesses or informed opinions about why these simple switches aren’t being changed?
I don’t think it’s on people’s radars…
To connect with the world of how many people? Ninety-three million people are back online?
One, I think it’s not true on their radar screen. Two, not the original because I think if the right people knew, they would have done it today.
Well, hopefully someone is listening. I mean, it looks so good.
It’s pretty cool, right? And it’s one of these things where we put men on the moon, right? We have found many difficult problems.
This is a country of 93 million people. Smartphone penetration is very high. People use these things, right? It’s kind of an obvious piece of art that hasn’t been installed yet.
What are we all missing from all the discussions about strait and gas prices? What are we missing from those 93 million people?
None of us have expensive insurance and how it affects our lives.
Where.
But it’s very small—I don’t want to say “disturbing,” because I know it’s more than that—but it’s small compared to the issues of life and death and freedom that these people face every day. I have many cases of Iranians coming forward and saying, “Hey, well, look, we want to connect with foreign countries. We want to learn from your universities. We want to learn from your institutions. We want you to come and sell our country.”
Actually, the government judges even the foreign investment, and you know, I would say, “Hey, foreign company, don’t send your employees there until they make sure they don’t catch people,” because they do this all the time.
So it is very difficult because there is no good person in this story. A good person is the people of Iran. The United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Israel, none of these three organizations have the interests of the Iranian people in their negotiations. And I challenge you to show me more.
