The Supreme Court rejected Trump’s appeal in the E. Gene Carroll sexual assault case.

The US Supreme Court will not hear an appeal of President Donald Trump’s $5m (£3.6m) civil suit against Secretary E Jean Carroll for defamation and sexual assault.

Trump has repeatedly alleged that the judge overseeing the civil trial improperly allowed evidence to influence his opinion.

A federal appeals court agreed with the jury’s verdict last year, saying a new trial was not warranted. Trump then asked the Supreme Court to intervene.

After a New York jury awarded Carol damages in a civil suit alleging Trump sexually assaulted her in the 1990s, he called the allegations false on social media. He denied the allegations.
