The specter of missing the next World Cup haunts the Arsenal star, who has been working hard to get fit.
And the defender is struggling Arsenal:Jurien Temper to be ready for the Champions League final on May 30 against Paris Saint-Germain and the World Cup.
According to The Sun newspaper, Timber has been out of action since last March with a hamstring injury, but is resuming training this week and hopes to be ready for the European Championship final against Paris.
However, Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman will announce his World Cup squad on May 27 and he is unsure if Timper will be ready to join.
Kuman said: “Yurian has been doing this for a long time. It was on and off. He is now training again to see if he can reach the Champions League final and if he is available for the World Cup.”
But Koeman seemed unsure of his player’s fitness as he said: “The situation does not look rosy at the moment.”
Timber had hoped to return to work earlier, but suffered a series of setbacks.
He will join the first team ahead of the final Premier League game of the current season against Crystal Palace next Sunday.
It is unlikely that he will be fit for this, but the goal is to be fit for the PSG match in Budapest.
That would be a big risk, but Arsenal are already without the injured Ben White and may have to rely on centre-back Christian Mosquera as a makeshift right-back.
As for Temper’s absence, it will be another setback for the Dutch coach, as defender Matisse de Ligt, midfielder Jerdi Schuten, striker Xavi Simmons are missing due to injury.
