The President of the United States, Donald Trump, returned to the White House Correspondents’ Association, three months after the terrorist started the event.
“As I said three months ago, the show must go on,” Trump said early in his remarks on Friday, after a lengthy awards ceremony, during which several reporters, including CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, spoke.

The annual — and highly controversial — event took place in April, but quickly derailed after a gunman attempted to sabotage the event in an attempt to assassinate Trump.
“Like my presidency, second time is always better and third time is always better,” Trump joked, before raising his hands to the crowd and saying, “I’m just kidding.”
The U.S. president is limited to two terms by the Constitution, but Trump has been floating deep into a third term.
The rescheduled dinner was held in the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria hotel, with a guest list of 700, down from the April meeting.
“It was an attack on our democracy itself; it was very serious,” Trump said of the assassination attempt.
He praised some of his supporters, including Pete Hegseth, Steve Miller and Tom Holman, for showing “bravery” in the incident.
He said: “He stood on the tables while most of you were under the tables.”
The famous gunman Cole Tomas Allen was entered the security gate of the gala venueWashington Hilton, armed with guns and knives. He was accused of shooting and wounding a Secret Service officer before he was arrested.
Allen is accused of trying to kill the President.
“A lot of people yelled, ‘Get out. Get down,’ which prompted Nicki Minaj to start shaking,” Trump said on Friday.
As the reporters there laughed, Trump added: “He’s the only one who knows what this means.”
Trump later used the incident to criticize political opponents, portraying his actions as a joke. He called Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom “newscum”, questioned the wisdom of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and pretended that someone in the audience was calling Illinois Governor JB Pritzker a “fat pig” to make it look like he wasn’t speaking for himself.
Earlier in the evening, Trump entered the ballroom to a standing ovation.
“This is the largest gathering of people suffering from Trump derangement,” he said, referring to the media.
The US president has had a very difficult relationship with the dinner, but this year, he was happy with the celebration this year, calling it “a great thing” and a “hot ticket”.
President of the White House Correspondents’ Association Weijia Jiang of CBS News, which was acquired by Israeli investor David Ellison last year, thanked Trump for his support, and for the second appearance in three months.
“Today our message is this: We are back,” he said. “We will not be afraid. We refuse to let the last word be violent.”
Trump’s enthusiastic return represented a sea change from his first term, beginning in 2017, when the new president declared the soiree “dead” and refused to attend for the next four years.
Beyond Trump, the Correspondents’ Dinner at the White House has long been a source of criticism among media professionals, with some journalists arguing that journalists are less friendly to the politicians they cover. To call for dinner to be to be abandoned growth only after the April event.
