Climate change is driven primarily by the greenhouse gases we’ve pumped into the atmosphere, which block much of the Sun’s energy there. These increased forces increase the likelihood of extreme events: prolonged, extreme heat waves and droughts, mixed with heavy rains. But things like this have happened in the past, how do we know if another season is due to an accident?
It’s a question that covers everything from building codes to disaster preparedness. And there is good news: According to report released by the US National Academy of Sciences on Thursday, the field of climate is growing and can answer our questions with greater confidence than it did ten years ago. The report also identifies important limitations and suggests ways to address them.
Overall, this makes it clear that climate change is just plain, well-known science. And the oil industry they see it as a problembecause it would make it easier to keep companies from going bankrupt. This has led to a conflict with Republicans in Congress and state governments threatening the funding of the National Academy.
