However, the England Hockey and Football Foundation objected to the plan as they felt the proposed shared multi-sport artificial grass pitch would not be sufficient for the needs of both hockey and football.

Organizations are also concerned about the loss of an artificial pitch in the centre.

The indoor climbing community has raised several concerns about the provision of a climbing wall within the new sports center – which will be relocated to the current 5-a-side building.

Bromley planning officers argued that the space earmarked for the climbing facility would be about three times the current size.

The proposal would mean part of the motorsport track is built over, some objectors say “preventing its future use and preventing people from walking the historic track”.

Bromley planning officers said the integrity of the racing circuit would be maintained and would remain “clearly recognisable” despite the changes.

Only portions of the stadium strait will be narrowed to include additional outdoor sports and recreational facilities such as 5-a-side football and 3v3 basketball.
