The polls are closing…and expectations for a Peres victory


The elections for the presidency of Real Madrid ended today, Sunday evening, the ballot boxes closed at exactly eight o’clock Spanish time and nine o’clock Mecca time.

Florentino Perez competed with Enrique Riquelme for the seat of the president of Merengue after the formation of 60 polling stations.

According to exit polls conducted by AS newspaper, Peres will receive 63% of the votes, and Riquelme – 37%.

Florentino Perez is nominated for the fourth time in the elections of “Real Madrid”.

AS explained that the first time was in 1995 and he lost to Ramon Mendoza (41.5%) where he received 39.6%. He then returned in 2000 and defeated Lorenzo Sanz (40.17%) with 49.73% of the vote.

Then came the 2004 elections, in which he won a landslide victory over Lorenzo Sanz (3.94%) with 91.64% of the members’ votes.

Enrique Riquelme will watch the election results at the Auto Cinema, where he set up his campaign headquarters, while Perez will go to his campaign headquarters at the Eurobuilding Hotel, where he finished his campaign.
