The Players Championship 17: Luke Humphries wins second ProTour title with 8-4 win over Jermaine Watimena in final

England’s Luke Humphries claimed his second ProTour title of the year with an 8-4 win over Jermaine Watimena in the Round of 17 at The Players Championship.

Dutchman Watimena, a beaten finalist earlier in the year at the Players Championship 12, took a 2-0 lead but Humphries roared back.

The 31-year-old averaged 104.89 against world number two Watimena – his sixth ton-plus of the tournament in Leicester.

“There have been moments this year when it hasn’t gone my way. But when it clicks for me I’m one of the best players in the world,” Humphries told PDC Darts.

“It sets the standard for me and it’s up to me to deliver more than that.”

There are 34 Players Championship events throughout the year, including the tournament finals held at Minehead in November.
