Media reports have revealed Al-Ittihad management’s plan to re-sign Portuguese Nunu Santo to take charge of the team next season, a move that could bring back the coach who previously led Dekan to the Roshen Professional League title.
According to a report in Al-Bilad newspaper, Nuno Santo’s name has suddenly returned to the discussion table in the corridors of the union, considering the search for a coach who can lead the team to the next stage and restore the technical stability of the group.
The paper revealed that there is a tendency within the administration to go ahead with signing the Portuguese coach, even if it requires paying the release clause of his current contract with English club West Ham, to facilitate his return to Jeddah.
He added that Nuno Santo is not against the idea of returning to coach Al-Ittihad, especially since he has had a successful experience at the club in the past, but his final confirmation is subject to the agreement of a number of personal and technical conditions that he wants to include in the new project.

The Portuguese manager is one of the most recognizable names among Al-Ittihad’s wide fan base after his previous spell saw him return to the domestic podium and lead them to the Rushen League title after a years-long absence.
Despite this, the negotiations are still at a preliminary stage, as sources say that the matter is still under study and discussion, without making a final decision on the identity of the coach who will lead the team in the new season.
Nunu Santo’s name has been floated as part of a list of technical options being explored by the federation’s management, but the Portuguese coach remains one of the most popular candidates for the job so far, given his previous knowledge of the club and players and his ability to adapt quickly to the team atmosphere.
