The Odyssey: trailer for Christopher Nolan’s classical Greek epic released online | The Odyssey

The first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey has been released.

To play Matt Damon like the legendary hero Odysseus, the classic film retells the story of Odysseus’ 10-year journey back to his homeland of Ithaca after the Greek victory at the siege of Troy.

The trailer offers glimpses of the main cast, including Damon, Tom Holland as Odysseus’ son Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Odysseus’ wife, Penelope, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous, one of the many suitors who want to marry Penelope.

There are also brief glimpses of the mythical threats Odysseus faces, including the storm, the Cyclops and Charlize Theron as the nymph Calypso.

In July movie trailer only on an estimated budget of $250m (£184m) it was released online, and in November Nolan revealed shot over 2m of footage for The Odyssey, which was shot on huge Imax cameras.

The Odyssey is set to be released on 16 July in Australia and 17 July in the UK and US.
