The new feature further enhances Plex’s evolution from the media server business

Plex is adding new features to the platform.

Starting today, users can create and share “personal playlists on Plex for any movie, show or episode,” the company said in an announcement. Later this year, users will be able to import listings from other advertisers and take action on third-party listings.

This month, Plex will also launch a community forum that will allow people to “write and comment directly on any video, show, season, or episode.” Later this year, Plex will introduce “Match Scores” based on viewer history and past viewings to determine how likely they are to like a show or video, Plex said.

Plex already lets people read content, and this year it also lets them interact with emoji. Similarly, Plex will also allow people to respond to comments and discussions with photos. The goal, according to Plex’s announcement, is to bring “new voices to every conversation.”

Finally, the “Follow Everything” feature coming this year will provide information to users of movies, TV shows, actors, and members who follow.

Plex’s announcement said users “already make more than 100 million decisions per month and create more than 45 million playlists,” making the new capabilities compatible with how people use Plex today.

“The addition of these features is the next step in Plex’s vision to unify entertainment content and help users navigate the shared landscape,” Plex said.
