Coach Mohamed Wehbe settled the controversy surrounding the date of publishing the final list of the Moroccan team participating in the 2026 World Cup, stressing that the names will be published on May 26.
Advertise before the deadline
Webb explained in statements to the Al-Riyadiah TV channel that he preferred to publish the list before the June 2 deadline set by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in order to give the technical team more time for optimal preparation.
Important preparation pool
The coach revealed that a closed preparatory meeting will be organized from May 22 to 26 at the Mohamed VI Football Center in Maamura, which will be attended by a number of players registered in the preliminary list, which includes 55 players.
This meeting will be a final test for the players fighting for the final places, as they will undergo intensive training under the supervision of the technical staff.
Burundi friendly match
The warm-up will conclude on May 26 with a friendly against Burundi behind closed doors at the Mohamed VI Central Stadium in Maamura, in a match that will be decisive in deciding the final options.
Webb has set a clear timetable for the final preparations for the World Cup, with all the shortlisted players meeting at the Mohamed VI Center in Maamura from May 29.
On June 3, the Moroccan team will travel to the United States of America to continue their preparations and face Brazil in a friendly match scheduled for June 13 before the start of the Atlas Lions World Cup.
Extensive menu and challenging choices
Webb faces a difficult task in whittling down the initial 55-man roster to 26 players given the fierce competition at all positions, especially after the addition of new players who have recently changed their sporting nationalities.
