Zamalek won the Egyptian league title for the fifteenth time in their history after a thrilling clean sheet victory over Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round of the competition.

Zamalek’s only goal came in the 8th minute with a remarkable individual effort by Palestinian Uday Al-Dabagh, who snatched the ball from defender Saad Samir, ran into the penalty area and fired home.

Zamalek took their tally to 56 points to lead the table, two points clear of second-placed Pyramids, while Al-Ahly finished third with 53 points, while Ceramica Cleopatra stood fourth with 44 points.

Zamalek achieved what could be considered a miracle given the difficult circumstances the team went through, suffering numerous suspensions and player departures due to non-payment of their financial debts. The club also sold the iconic duo of Nasser Maher and Dunga to Mercato last winter to pay their players’ wages.

Zamalek outplayed Al Ahly and the Pyramids in a star-studded contest, so Al-Abyad won a historic title with a fierce contest around them until the final seconds.
