The Microsoft Edge Copilot update uses AI to pull notifications from your tabs

Microsoft Edge is adding a new item which will allow its Copilot AI chatbot to collect information from all your open tabs. When you start chatting with Copilot, you can ask the chatbot interactive questions about your content, match your search results, summarize your open content, and more.

In its announcement, Microsoft says you can “choose what you want or leave what you don’t want.” The company is Respite from Copilot Mode also, which may take more information from your website but provide other business benefits, such as the ability to make reservations on your behalf. Microsoft has since folded this technology “Browse with Copilot” a weapon.

A number of other AI features are coming to Edge, including an AI-powered “Study and Learn” feature that can turn the content you’re looking at into a study session or quiz. There’s a new tool that turns your tabs into AI podcasts, just like you’d like. find it on NotebookLMis an AI writing assistant that will pop up when you start writing on the site.

You can also give Copilot permission to access your browsing history to provide “relevant, high-quality responses,” according to Microsoft. Copilot in Edge on desktop and mobile has come with “temporary memory” as well, which can change its responses based on your previous conversations. And, when you open a new tab, you’ll see a redesigned page that integrates chat, search, and web browsing, along with the Travel feature, which it uses. AI to improve your browsing history in categories that you can also view.

Meanwhile, an update to the Edge mobile app lets you share your screen with Copilot and ask questions about what you’re seeing. Microsoft says you’ll see “visual notifications” when Copilot is active, “so you know when it’s doing something, helping, listening, or watching.”
