Don is close to catching up with another German legend
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has set a record in the World Cup, cementing himself among the players with the most participation in the history of the tournament.
The captain of the Portuguese national team participated in the starting line-up of the match against Uzbekistan Today, Wednesday evening, in the second round of the 11th group of the World Cup 2026, increasing his number to 24 in the history of his participation in the World Championship.
With this number, Ronaldo rose to third place on the list of players with the most appearances at the World Cup, after breaking the partnership with Italian defensive legend Baupo Maldini (23 appearances).

Ronaldo also equaled German legend Miroslav Klose, who is the same.
At the moment, only Argentinian Lionel Messi, who leads the list with 28 matches, and German Lothar Matthaus, who is second with 25 matches, are ahead of Ronaldo.
Don can equal Matthews’ number if he takes part in the last group match against Colombia.
Ronaldo’s participation has come in 6 different draws: 6 in 2006, 4 in 2010, 3 in 2014, 4 in 2018 and 5 in 2022, in addition to the two games in the current edition.
