The lesson was brutal.. Why was Real Madrid quick to deny negotiations with Olissi?

Real Madrid issued an official statement on Saturday evening strongly denying any contact with the representatives of Bayern Munich star Michael Ollis, stressing its full commitment to the Fédération Internationale de Football Associations (FIFA) regulations regarding the status of players and their transfers, a move that reflects the Royal Club’s desire to avoid any discipline.

According to a statement released by the Royal Club, president Florentino Perez has confirmed that Real Madrid do not want to act in any way outside the current regulations, particularly FIFA regulations regarding the status of players and their transfers, clearly indicating their refusal to enter into illegal negotiations.

This is not the first time that Real Madrid have taken this firm stance, as they previously officially announced that they had made an offer to Atletico Madrid to sign Argentina international Julián Alvarez, sticking to official channels, and are now repeating the matter with the French international.

Both players have valid contracts with their current clubs. In Olissi’s case, he is tied to Bayern until June 2029, meaning any contact with the player outside his current club could expose Real to severe disciplinary action from FIFA.

Article 18 of the FIFA Regulations on Special Provisions on Contracts between Professional Players and Clubs clearly states that “a club wishing to sign a contract with a professional player must notify the player’s club in writing of its intention before entering into negotiations with the player”.

Direct negotiations with the player are only allowed during the last six months of his contract, as the regulation states that “a professional player has the right to sign a contract with another club if his contract with the current club has expired or will expire within six months. Any violation of this clause is subject to appropriate penalties.”

As Olissi’s contract does not expire until June 2029, i.e. 3 years from now, any direct contact with him or his representatives without notifying Bayern Munich officially is a clear breach of FIFA rules, which Real Madrid are keen to avoid.

The announcement comes as speculation grows of Real Madrid’s interest in Olissi, who is considered one of France’s hottest young talents and one of Bayern Munich’s rising stars.

Notably, Real Madrid has previously been sanctioned by FIFA for violations related to the registration of underage players, forcing the Perez administration to strictly adhere to all international regulations and laws.
