The king of gifts…Olisi is closing in on Pele’s all-time World Cup record

Michael Olisey produced an outstanding performance in France’s 3-0 win over Sweden in the 2026 World Cup round of 32, scoring twice to cement the Roosters’ lead and cement his crucial role in the team’s attack.

Olisse has led France through to the round of 16, setting up a date with Paraguay next Sunday morning.

The French star leads the list of footballers who scored the most goals in the 2026 World Cup so far, making 5 assists.

According to the Opta network, Olissi became the second-highest scorer in a World Cup match since 1966, behind Brazilian legend Pele, who scored 6 goals in 1970.

Mr Schip’s data showed Olissi joined the all-time list of footballers with the most goals in their first four World Cup games with five assists, surpassing Hungary’s László Buda (6 in 1954) and Italy’s Amedeo Biavatti (5 in 1938).

In the same context, the Statusfoot network explained that Olisse has become one of the most popular goalscorers in the history of the French national team at the World Cups, increasing his tally to 5 goals, behind Rene Kopa (8 assists) and equal to Antoine Griezmann.
