The iOS code could allow Apple to cut apps when users miss an iPhone payment

A code found in the iOS 27 beta will allow Apple to put a cash iPhone into “Restricted Mode” if it detects missed payments, 9to5Mac reports. These findings follow the original article Bloomberg earlier this week it is said that Apple is planning to launch a new one “Adding Apple” program to finance new equipment loans.

iPhones in “Restricted Mode” are said to be unable to access almost all apps, except for basics like the Phone app, Settings, and the App Store. It uses the new “App Managed Features” software that allows money or partner apps to always check if the money device is safe.

According to 9 to 5mcthe code also includes a new “Partner Finance Lock” that aims to prevent users from “deleting, reselling, or removing a restricted device from the system.” Although this feature is part of Find My, it says it doesn’t allow funders to track the phone’s location.

This is from the beta version of iOS 27, so it is possible that the new “Restricted Access” code may be changed or removed before Apple releases iOS 27. The “Apple Upgrade” program has not been officially launched, either. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
