Messi, Mbappe and 3 Spanish players are in the best squad
Spain have forced their presence in the ideal World Cup 2026 squad, voted by fans on the official website of the International Football Federation (FIFA), after three La Roja stars were included, while the goalkeeper position was a surprise.
Pedro Porro, Mark Cucuria and Rodri were included in the squad after the trio’s impressive performances during the tournament, which saw Spain win their second ever World Cup title.

Fosinha steals the spotlight
The fans’ choice witnessed a big surprise as Cape Verdean goalkeeper Fusenia topped the list of the tournament’s best goalkeepers with almost 40% of the votes ahead of World Cup Golden Glove Award winner Spain’s Unai Simon.
The formation did not witness the presence of any player from the Arab teams that participated in the previous draw.

Controversial absences
The squad saw the absence of England’s Harry Kane despite being among the most voted players, while France tied with Spain with three players each in the squad.
The attacking trio of Mbappe, Holland and Messi also received more than 20% of the votes for each player, while Mbappe leads the footballers with the most votes from fans.
On the other hand, the absence of Spain’s Pau Cobarci and Aymeric Laporte caused some controversy, but Porro and Cucuria were the most voted defenders.
Meanwhile, along with Bellingham, there was no dispute about the presence of Rodri, the best player of the tournament, and Olisei, who made the most assists in the World Cup.
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, in collaboration with its official sponsor Aramco, gave fans around the world the opportunity to choose the best 11 players of the tournament by voting on the FIFA website before the final results were announced.
