Manchester Supergiants defeated London Spirit by seven runs in thrilling circumstances at Lord’s.
The Super Giants were sent to bat first after losing the toss, giving the hosts a target of 139 runs to win.
But in the most thrilling of circumstances, Spirit captain Liam Livingstone, who starred with bat and ball, came even closer to the Super Giants’ total, scoring 69 off 40 deliveries.

Thanks to his collection of four fours and five sixes, Livingstone left his side needing nine runs off three balls, before being bowled by Sonny Baker, who dismissed James Coles to seal the match.
“We didn’t get over the line, a bit disappointed,” Livingstone said. “It was a good game of cricket. Just a shame we fell behind.
“It was one of those pitches where they were probably even. We put ourselves too far behind the run rate to catch up in the end.
“Like I said, a little bit rusty and disappointed. We bowled some really good stuff through the middle and pulled through towards the end. It’s a good start and hopefully we can build on that.”
Things didn’t start so well for the Super Giants, who lost their skipper Aiden Markram for one run off ten balls, after being trapped by Adam Milne. Then Jos Buttler was bowled by Adam Jumper for 16 runs.

Heinrich Klaasen chased him down at long on, Livingstone took a brilliant catch at extra cover off a delivery from David Willey, the sun in his eyes.
Zampa took another, again bowling Lews du Ploy for six, leaving the visitors on 116-4, with Tom Moores James Reu and Dewald Brevis run out for nil.
Seifert fell to David Willey at cover off Coles’ delivery.
Livingstone would then dismiss both Liam Dawson and Gus Atkinson, while combining with Coles to run out Josh Tong at the death.
The Spirit struggled against the Supergiants’ bowling attack, with Atkinson snaring Luan-Dre Pretorius (12), James Ryu (0) and Dewald Brevis (22), while Kieran Carlson was dismissed by Dawson.
Baker wrapped things up in style, showing why he is a potential England star.
