But once the action started, they were treated to a sensational innings from Buttler.
The Supergiants suffered early setbacks as Tim Seifert and skipper Aiden Markram fell cheaply but Buttler combined power-hitting with deft touches around the ground to bring up his half-century in 31 balls.
