Birmingham Phoenix Trent Rockets were bowled out for just 64 as The Hundred’s bowler-dominated start continued at Edgbaston.
Ellis Perry played single-handedly with his 39 as no other batsman reached double figures in a terrific performance.
It was the joint-second-lowest score in a women’s century, and the lowest score Phoenix also averaged in 2024 when they were bowled out for 54 runs against Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds).
The Oval Invincibles (now MI London) scored 64 against the Superchargers in the same year.
Debutant Samantha Bates – an uncapped Australian spinner – was among the Rockets’ bowlers, taking 3-10 and pacer Georgia Elwes 3-13.
On another bowler-friendly surface, Australia’s Kim Garth also had a miserable spell of 2-5 and leg-spinner Katie Levick took 1-8.
England batsman Sophia Dunkley dominated the chase with 43 off 17 balls as the Rockets needed just 31 balls to reach their target to complete a completely one-sided contest.
Batsmen have struggled in all four matches so far. There was the London Spirit Bowled out for 80 runs The Southern Braves had a maximum of 126 runs in their first match on Thursday, which they successfully defended against the Welsh Fire.
The Rockets’ only blemish was Ash Gardner’s dropping of Perry on the nine, which could have been more humiliating for the Phoenix as their skipper proved the pitch wasn’t a complete mystery.
