The Gunners are preparing the deal of the century. “Arsenal” is going to break Isaac’s record.

An irresistible number

Arsenal have entered the final stages of negotiations to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rodgers in the current summer transfer window, in a deal that could become the most expensive in English football history.

Spanish outlet Marca report that Arsenal are set to make a final bid of £130m, or around €150m, after Aston Villa rejected the first bid, insisting on keeping one of their most popular stars following the player’s exceptional season under Spanish coach Unai Emery.

Arsenal technical director Mikel Arteta has put Rodgers at the top of his priorities to strengthen the forward line after he was convinced the England international has the potential to make him one of the most important elements of his future project, especially after leading the team to the Premier League title.

Rodgers, who is 23, has had an exceptional season that has put him among the elite stars on the European continent since he was named the Europa League Player of the Year nearly a month ago. He has scored 14 goals and 12 assists in various competitions, in addition to leading many offensive statistics.

The player’s remarkable performances have seen his market value skyrocket, making him one of the most sought-after names in the summer transfer window, as Aston Villa face the challenge of keeping hold of their most famous star.

If the deal goes through for the sale price, Arsenal will break the British record set by Sweden’s Alexander Isak, who moved to Liverpool for £125m last summer, making Morgan Rodgers the most expensive deal in English football history.
