Future funding for the Afghanistan women’s refugee team will be one of the topics discussed at the International Cricket Council’s annual conference next month.

Having played their first competitive match in Melbourne in January 2025 and toured India during last year’s 50-over World Cup, the team is touring England for a series of developmental Twenty20 matches this summer, but that funding runs out in August.
The integration of refugees into cricket is likely to be discussed more broadly at the four-day ICC conference that begins in Edinburgh on July 8 – three days after the Afghan team participates in the T20 World Cup final at Lord’s.
