Former River City actor Ian Robertson has been jailed for nine years for raping a woman and assaulting two others.
The 45-year-old, who played Stevie O’Hara in the BBC soap, was convicted of five offenses between 2004 and 2019, including domestic violence against women.
During his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Robertson was called “violent” and “manipulative” by witnesses.
Robertson, who was tried via video link from Barlini Prison, will be supervised for a further three years on his release.
The trial heard how Caribe Robertson assaulted a woman in Stirlingshire between 2018 and 2019 and committed separate sexual assaults.
The pair got to know each other from working together on River City.
The woman said she didn’t want anything sexual to happen, but she believes Robertson did.
The relationship became close, but the woman later told Robertson that she wanted their relationship to return to platonic.
In pre-recorded testimony, the rape victim said she was convinced Robertson had to “deny her feelings for him.”
