The former Liverpool star has retired after a brilliant career

Former Liverpool star James Milner has announced his retirement from football after playing 24 seasons in the English Premier League.

The English veteran star is 40 years old and spent the last season in “Brighton”.

Milner played for several English clubs, led by Liverpool and Manchester City, along with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brighton and Sheffield United.

“After 24 seasons in the English Premier League, I feel it is time to end my career as a player,” Milner wrote on his Instagram page.

From my first appearance for Leeds United at the age of 16 and being the youngest player to score in the Premier League, I couldn’t imagine how far I have come, until I was unable to move my legs last year and then came back with Brighton to win Europe for the second time in their history at the age of forty.

He pointed out. “I have been lucky enough to experience unforgettable moments, from fighting for survival to winning titles, participating in the European Championships and representing my country, England, at the Euros and the World Cup.”

He concluded. “But what I will carry with me the most are not just the accomplishments, but the people and friendships I’ve made throughout my career that will stay with me forever… To the fans, thank you.”
