The Moroccan coach leads Nashama in the first match of the World Cup
Moroccan Jamal Al-Salami, coach of the Jordan national team, made World Cup history with a unique record after leading Al-Nashama in the 2026 tournament.
Al-Salami captained Jordan in the team’s first ever World Cup match against Austria in the first round of Group 10 of the tournament on Wednesday morning.
As reported by the French “Statesfoot” network, Al-Salami became the first African coach in history to lead the Asian team in the world championships.
The 55-year-old Moroccan coach took charge of Jordan in June 2024 and for the first time in history managed to win a ticket to the finals of the World Cup with him.
The team of Jordan, together with the trio of Uzbekistan, Curaçao and Cape Verde, is considered one of the 4 teams participating in the World Championship for the first time.
