The fastest player in the history of the German league has sparked a new conflict between Saudi Arabia’s Roshan League and English Premier League (Premier League) clubs ahead of the start of next summer’s transfer window.
Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat has cited a report by Sky Sports Network which confirmed that Saudi League clubs are battling their Premier League counterparts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s German winger Jean-Mathieu Bahoya.
Saudi Arabia’s interest in the 21-year-old was nothing new as it dates back to last summer’s transfer window when Al-Ittihad tried to sign him before Al-Hilal knocked on the German club’s doors to sign him for the Mercato last winter.
Adding to Saudi clubs’ chances of signing Bahoya is that he can be registered as a child, especially as he is only 21, meaning he won’t get a place as a foreigner in the top eight.
Frankfurt are also looking to offload one of their players for a big fee to shore up the squad after failing to qualify for any European Championship next season, and Bahuja could be that player.
Bahoya joined Frankfurt from Angers in France in January 2024, scoring his first goal for the German club with his fourth strike.
As for the most outstanding record of the young French player, he recorded the fastest start in the history of the German league in March 2025 during the match against Bochum in the twenty-sixth round, namely in the 12th minute of the match.
With that start, Bahoya became the first player in the history of the German league to break the 37 kilometers per hour barrier, reaching 37.16 kilometers per hour.
The 21-year-old came close to Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt’s record of 37.58 kilometers per hour in the 100 meters in 2009.
In general, the Cameroonian performed well in the German team last season, as he participated in 37 matches, during which he scored 4 goals and assisted 4 goals.
