Racist incidents at the World Cup
Reactions to the match of the 32nd round held in Monterrey, Mexico, were not limited to the final whistle. What started as a sporting disappointment quickly turned into an issue of public opinion after social media platforms were flooded with comments that crossed the lines of acceptable criticism.

The federation explained that the three players who missed the penalties, Justin Kluivert, Quentin Temper and Cresencio Summerville, were the targets of abuse. He emphasized in his statement that he will send all offensive messages to judicial authorities to take necessary legal measures.
“Unfortunately, it is impossible to control and stop all racist reactions, but the Dutch Football Association wants to send a very clear message. there are limits and there are consequences for those who cross them.”

For his part, Prime Minister Rob Gittin commented on the incident to reporters on Friday, stressing that he expects the prosecution to take legal action “to set an example for others” and described what happened after the game as “completely unacceptable”.
Cetin continued. “One moment they are our sons and we don’t see their skin color when they wear an orange shirt. Then, when one of them misses a penalty, insults are thrown at them from all sides.”
The Netherlands, a three-time World Cup finalist, crashed out of the tournament in the round of 32 against Morocco in Monterrey in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw before the Atlas Lions decided it on penalties.
