The countdown has begun… Zidane is closing in on the seat of his dreams

Legend Zinedine Zidane is close to taking charge of the France national team, replacing Didier Deschamps, after media reports revealed that the French Football Federation is set to officially announce his appointment as Roosters coach in the coming days.

According to the newspaper,L’Equipe“The French federation has set next Tuesday to announce the start of the Zidane era, following months of consultation and coordination between the two sides, with the 1998 world champion taking charge of the national team on a four-year contract.

The newspaper adds that Philippe Diallo, the president of the French Football Federation, recently held a series of meetings with Zidane to discuss the formation of a new technical staff to put the finishing touches on the sports project.

The French federation had hoped to hold a special ceremony in honor of Didier Deschamps after his 14-year career with the national team ended, but the veteran coach has not expressed his desire to receive the honor, according to a report.

Deschamps ended his long career with France by finishing fourth at the 2026 World Cup, which was held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

When is Zizo’s first appearance with the Roosters?

The official announcement is expected to be followed by a press conference to introduce Zidane, although that is likely to take place later, while the corridors of the French federation are witnessing intense preparations to put the finishing touches to the announcement ceremony.

L’Equipe noted that the formation of the new technical team will be completed in August, which will undergo extensive changes compared to the previous team, and some members will start their duties in early September.

Zidane will begin his career with the French national team in the upcoming international break, as the “Roosters” have 4 matches in the UEFA Nations League Championship: Turkey on September 25, Belgium on September 28, then Italy on October 2, before facing Belgium again on October 5.

Zidane is preparing for his first coaching experience with the national team after a remarkable success during his career with Real Madrid, which saw him win numerous titles, most notably the Champions League 3 times in a row.

Although he has received a number of offers after his second term at Real Madrid ends in 2021, he has rejected all offers pending his appointment as France coach.
