The congresswoman denies that staff are using AI to draft changes to the defense budget

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) says her staff used AI to “spellcheck” in a summary of changes to a major defense bill, but denies it was used on the text itself and says “NO Laws have ever been written with AI.”

Luna posted a response after the account on X started sharing screenshots for a summary of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act amendments. It reads: “Similar to HR 100 (118th Congress) 11:25 AM

At first, Luna’s answer seems to indicate that Claude was used to rewording. His article stated that “the staff used AI to improve their content and did not change it.” Luna added: “It’s not surprising. Many employees use it. When X users started thinking that its employees were using the technology to write bills, Luna he prepared his answer: “Yes, my staff used AI for writing/grammar to check the edited SUMMARY, not the actual text,” his post now reads.

He followed do it with others: “FYI NO Laws are ever written by AI. All payments from the House come from the House Legislative Council which is prohibited from using AI. The picture you are referring to is an AI abbreviation of a bill that is also used for research, cmon man 🤣”.
