Mboladinga was much admired in Alkan
The Democratic Republic of Congo will miss the support of its most famous fan, Michel Koka Mboladinga, in the 2026 World Cup decider against Uzbekistan tomorrow, Sunday morning, after he was unable to travel to the US due to lack of a visa.
Mboladinga came to the fore during the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco earlier this year, where he drew attention with his striking presence in the stands.

Mbuladinga uniquely attracted attention in the stands, standing still during meetings in the Democratic Republic of Congo to welcome his country’s first prime minister, Patrice Lumumba, a highly respected figure in the country.
Mbuladinga bears a striking resemblance to leader Lumumba and wears bright suits in the colors of his country’s flag. But after supporting the Democratic Republic of the Congo in their last game in Mexico, the famous fan will not be in Atlanta to attend the match against Uzbekistan.
Kapinga Yvette Ngandu, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Washington, told the agency about this. Reuters He hopes he will get a visa if the Democratic Republic of Congo qualifies for the knockout stage. “I hope he brings his style of support to the team.”
Mboladinga was in the stands during last Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Colombia in Guadalajara, Mexico after arriving late to the World Cup due to travel restrictions imposed by the Democratic Republic of Congo following the country’s Ebola outbreak.
The African side need to beat Uzbekistan to keep their chances of qualifying for the World Cup Round of 32 alive as they currently sit third in Group 11, one point after a 1-1 draw with Portugal.
