The layoff came after a disastrous season
Egypt’s Al Ahly have agreed with their Danish coach Jes Torop to part ways between the two sides after a negative season for the red team.
Al-Ahly finished third in the Egyptian league last season and were knocked out of the Egyptian Cup early, notably in the round of 32 by Telecom Egypt (Second Division), and also crashed out of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League with a two-leg loss at the hands of Esperance of Tunisia.
“Al Ahli” recently tried to separate from Torop, but the two sides did not reach a separation resolution.
For his part, journalist Ahmed Shubert said today, Thursday, that Al-Ahli’s story is behind yes toropIt ended at exactly two o’clock this morning, when the coach signed the permits with the club.
“Torop’s agent, whose name is Firas, has come to Cairo and Al-Ahli officials have refused to meet him. The club resorted to legal matters and other solutions to find a way out of the coach’s contract crisis and the agent left Egypt without issue.”
“The agent was surprised by Al-Ahly’s call and they sent him flight tickets as well as the coach. The club sought help from Osama Hilal, who had signed Torop, and when the pair arrived, he went straight to Al-Ahly.”
Schubert revealed. The meeting was attended by Yasin Mansour, the vice president of Al Ahli, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, a member of the board of directors, and Jamal Jabr, the director of the Media Center.
“It was agreed that Torop would receive 3 months worth of the penalty clause in addition to his June salary, as his contract expires at the end of this month, he also received an additional month’s salary and the agent received 10 percent of the 4 months worth.”
He continued. “Al-Ahly have agreed to this so that Torop does not go to FIFA, as happened with Ribeiro, who is eligible for a year-long loan.”
The former goalkeeper of “Al-Ahly” added: “Torop was supposed to pay his debts in one payment within 10 days, but Yasin Mansour has assured him that there is not enough liquidity in the club at the moment and the payments will be transferred in two installments.”
Schubert revealed a point of contention that took up a lot of time in the negotiations, as he said: “There was a disagreement over a certain point, which is that Al-Ahly had asked Thorop not to appear in the Egyptian media for a whole year, which the coach refused, and this point was changed.”
It is noteworthy that many press publications have confirmed that Thorop’s salary reaches $200,000 per month.
