A Paraguayan Senate politician explains why he attacked Killian
In Paraguay, the political controversy surrounding the actions of French national team striker Kylian Mbappe has returned to the fore after Senator Celeste Amarilla opened fire on the Roosters star.
Senator Kylian was accused of insulting his country’s goalkeeper after the 2026 World Cup last 16 match in which Amarilla called the French striker a “bastard”, reigniting the storm of criticism that followed the France captain after the Roosters’ 1-0 win.
Senator Amarilla explained the reason for his anger in a new speech… Senate of Paraguay“What made us angry? It was that Orlando Gilles (the goalkeeper of the national team), a young man who was playing for the first time in front of the world, humbly extended his hand to Mbappe, but this scoundrel rejected it and shouted at him. This is not the way the French do it. A Frenchman never does that.”
The roots of the crisis go back to the final whistle against Paraguay and France when an altercation between goalkeeper Orlando Gill and Mbappe escalated tensions between Paraguayan fans and the Real Madrid star.
This was not the first time when Amarella attacked Mbappe. “A colonized Cameroonian pretending to be strong like a Frenchman, disgraceful, nouveau riche, arrogant and ugly. He was nervous and scared throughout the game, as was his team; they failed to score and won by accident. The only thing we didn’t criticize him after the game was about our team.”
The onslaught did not stop at Amarilla, as senator Nano Glaverna joined the wave of criticism and described Mbappe as a “whiner”, referring to a previous incident in which he claimed the player had offered a “kiss” to defender Juan Caceres in a comment described as having unobjectionable undertones.
