The American woman was shocked when she received a new license plate

An elderly woman in Florida has become the talk of a retirement community after vehicle licensing officials issued her a retirement license plate.

Pompano Beach resident Nancy Dello Streeto said she “went ballistic” when she discovered her new license plate number was “SQZ A55.”

“I don’t think a 77-year-old man would be walking around with a plate saying that,” Dello Streeto told CBS News in Miami.

She said some neighbors encouraged her to change the plate, while others — including family members and her children — told her to keep it.

Dello Streeto said she was waiting for a replacement plate and didn’t notice anything wrong with it when she first got it in the mail.

Despite her disappointment, she decided to keep the plate “to see what would happen”.

“I let it go, maybe it was meant to be on my car,” Dello Streeto said.

“I can deal with a few noises here and there. In fact, being over 70, I like a few noises.”

According to CBS, Florida license plates were manufactured at a state prison in North Florida for nearly 100 years before being distributed by state agencies.

Broward County officials say plates deemed offensive can be exchanged for free.
